About me
Dr. Jackie Martino is an educator, composer, and musician. She has an extensive career in music education as both a teacher and administrator. . She is currently the Director of Performing Arts at The Calhoun School in New York City. For the last two decades, she built a music and theater program at The King School in Stamford, CT. For the last 7 years, she was part of a team that created community music residencies that brought El Sistema programs from all of the country for a weekend of collaboration that resulted in an original piece of music. Jackie has started an El Sistema vocal program in Campos Brazil, where she also brought her students. Jackie’s students have performed twice at the American high school theater festival at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Jackie has presented at the NAFME, APME NYSAIS, and CAIS conferences on the topics of student's voice in the music classroom, using soundtrap in the choral classroom, and composing with MS and HS students. Her research has been published in the GIA publications book Planning Instruction in Music by Frank Abrahams and Ryan John. Jackie is an accomplished singer-songwriter. She still performs when she can and has toured the country. She plays piano, guitar, and a little bass. Her music can be found on all online music platforms.
