About me

Eric Songer has taught music in Chaska, Minnesota since 1997. He has a Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. His middle school program includes jazz, rock, country, hip hop, and marching. Mr. Songer teaches privately, composes and arranges music, and performs as a trombonist. He was named 2008 and 2021 Minnesota District 112 Teacher of the Year; has published articles in "Instrumentalist", "Teaching Music" and "Music Educators Journal"; and regularly presents at universities and conferences. He was awarded the 2019 Give A Note Innovation in Music Education Award and 2023 and 2025 CMA Foundation Music Teacher of Excellence.
