Dr. Shane Colquhoun is an Assistant Professor of Music Technology and Contemporary Musical Styles at Alabama State University and a nationally recognized voice in innovative music education. A two-time GRAMMY Music Educator Award quarterfinalist, he centers his work on expanding access to music learning for the “other 80%” of students through modern band, digital music production, and culturally relevant, student-centered pedagogy. Dr. Colquhoun is Chair of the NAfME Council for Innovations and an active scholar, author, and clinician whose research and writing explore non-traditional music pathways, teacher preparedness, and the intersection of music, technology, and industry. As a producer and entrepreneur, he also mentors student artists and creators in monetization, micro-sync licensing, and digital content strategy. His work bridges education and industry with one guiding mission: more music, for more students, in more meaningful ways.
